November 25: A solitary Common Shelduck is currently hanging out on Hanover Pond in Meriden, CT. It can be anywhere on the pond but on occasion has flown in to within 30 feet of the parking lot. This is a Eurasian species, extremely rare in North America, but the provenance of this bird is unknown so we will not be counting this as an ABA species for the time being, although that could possibly change.
