Red-crested Cardinal

(Paroaria coronata)

This colorful species is seen as an escapee in California and Florida. It is native to Brazil,  but was introduced in Hawaii around 1930, where it now thrives. Our daughter Lauren supplied these nice photos, alertly snapped by husband Lee Berger on their honeymoon in Maui.
