Western Gull

ABA 1

(Larus occidentalis)

Common on the west coast, the dark-mantled Western Gull has black wing tips. It frequently hybridizes with Glaucous-winged Gull, which has gray wing tips. A bird whose wing tips are too light for Western and too dark for Glaucous-winged is likely this hybrid, also known as Olympic Gull.
