About a year & a half ago I happened to glance out my bedroom window to see one of these Pileated Woodpeckers (did not know what it was at the time but I did recognize that it was a woodpecker) in a tree in my yard. It was HUGE & I had never seen anything like it before or since! I watched it for a while then went for my camera but it took off.
