Fork-tailed Flycatcher – Hadlyme, CT

Fork-tailed FlycatcherDecember 1:  On November 30, a Fork-tailed Flycatcher was discovered at the ferry landing on the Connecticut River in Hadlyme, Connecticut – the first time this species has been seen in Connecticut since one turned up in Stamford in November, 2010. The current bird has been foraging in the areas all around the parking lot, delighting the countless birders and photographers, some of whom have traveled long distances hoping just to see it at all, with close-up views (unlike the Stamford bird that had to be viewed from a greater distance). The bird was last seen on December 11.
