June 9: Tried again unsuccessfully for Eastern-Whip-poor-will photos from 8:20 to 9:00 PM this evening at Meshomasic State Forest. Easily heard two Whip-poor-wills calling and got my hopes up when a dark bird landed at the edge of the road, but surprisingly it turned out to be an American Woodcock. Also heard Barred Owl calling.
