Last year a pair of Smooth-billed Anis nested at Loxahatchee NWR in Boynton Beach, FL and this year they are nesting there again, although they have chosen a new section of the preserve for their nest site.
Green Cay Wetlands is relatively quiet with a few lingering shorebirds. There is a family of Purple Gallinules with two adults keeping careful watch on four newly hatched chicks. The tiny chicks are black with pink legs and feet so enormous that they are equally as large as the rest of the body.
