The Tricolored Munias in Belle Glade, FL

Tri-colored Munia3/10/23:  Today featured a drive from home in Boynton Beach, FL up to Belle Glade with great friend Bill Culp to look for the small flocks of Tricolored Munia that have established a colony near the watch tower on the unpaved road just northeast of the Torry Island amphitheater. The birds proved fairly easy to find but devilishly difficult to photograph as they move incessantly and rarely perch in the open for more than a second. Many thanks to Glenn Miller from Rochester, NY who graciously offered us water and then surprised us by returning with his SUV to save us the long walk back to the parking area. Glenn remembered me from an outing we made together 17 years ago at Green Cay Wetlands. Small world.
