Craveri’s Murrulet

ABA 3

(Synthliboramphus craveri)

Craveri’s Murrulet is a small alcid that nests on some islands off Mexico but can be seen in small numbers, usually in pairs, off the coast of California. It is distinguished from the similar Scripps’s and Guadalupe Murrelets by virtue of its gray underwings and the eye entirely within the black portion of the face.
