A common denizen of ponds and marshes, the Green Heron can usually be spotted perched frozen like a statue on a log or low overhanging plant at the water’s edge. At some of the heavily visited wetlands in Florida some Green Herons have become so used to humans that they will often perch unabashedly on the boardwalk railing.
