Hepatic Tanager

(Piranga flava)

Hepatic Tanager is a dullish red bird of the montane forests of the southwest. Like other members of this group, the female is yellow and lacks the red coloration of the male.  As of 2010, the Piranga tanagers have been reclassified  into the Cardinalidae family.
