Bell’s Sparrow

ABA 1

(Artemisospiza belli)

Bell’s Sparrow was until 2013 considered conspecific with Sagebrush Sparrow, under the old name of Sage Sparrow. Bell’s shows generally more contrast, with a darker head, a darker back with little or no streaking, and a much wider and darker lateral throat stripe. It also has a more restricted range than Sagebrush Sparrow, limited to California, southwestern Arizona, and southern Nevada.
