Yellow-footed Gull breeds in the Sea of Cortez and is reliably seen in North America only at the Salton Sea in southeastern California, mainly from June through mid-autumn. It is easy to identify from surrounding gulls by its large size, dark mantle, very stout bill, and bright yellow legs and feet.
