As of July, 2017 the former Magnificent-Hummingbird is split into two separate species. Rivoli’s is the one found in southeast Arizona, south Texas (Big Bend NP), Mexico, and northern central America. It remains one of North America’s two largest Hummingbirds – Blue-throated Hummingbird being the other. The other species after the split is called Talamanca Hummingbird (Eugenes spectabilis), also called Admirable Hummingbird, and is found in Costa Rica and Panama.
