Dusky Grouse

(Dendragapus obscurus)

Dusky Grouse together with Sooty Grouse comprise the two species known until 2006 as Blue Grouse.  Dusky’s range can be thought of as the Rocky Mountains, while the more western Sooty ranges from the Alaska inside passage and British Columbia down to the Cascades and Sierra Nevadas.
