American Tree Sparrow is a breeder of the far north, and is an annual harbinger of winter in the lower 48 states where it is seen only in the cold weather months. It has a bright rufous cap, a dark spot in the center of its otherwise unmarked breast, and a bicolored bill with a yellow lower mandible.
