Purple Gallinule

The beautifully colored Purple Gallinule is found in coastal states from Texas to South Carolina, generally in wetlands where there are water lilies and other floating plants and tall reeds among which to walk, climb, and hide.  It often shares a habitat with numerous Common Gallinules (Moorhens), and American Coots.
