Red Knot

(Calidris canutus)

During their long spring migration, large numbers of Red Knots stop in the area of Chesapeake Bay to fatten up on Horsehoe Crab eggs.  Over-fishing of this crucial food supply has placed the long-term survival of the Red Knot in jeopardy.
