Saffron Finch

ABA 2

(Sicalis flaveola)

The conspicuous Saffron Finch is actually not a finch at all, but a member of the tanager family. It is native to South America, but was introduced in the latter half of the 20th century to the state of Hawaii where it is now prevalent, especially on Oahu and the Big Island. It is far from shy and is easily seen on the ground in parks and other public places.
