Gilded Flicker

ABA 2

(Colaptes chrysoides)

In the US, Gilded Flicker is limited to Arizona. The male resembles the red-shafted (western) race of Northern Flicker with its red malar marking, but the vent and underwing are yellow like the Northern Flicker yellow-shafted (eastern) race. The crown is all brown unlike either race of Northern Flicker.
