Northern Wheatear is primarily a species of Eurasia, Alaska and Greenland, and is only uncommonly seen in the lower 48 states. Like the Bluethroat, it had been classified as a member of the thrush family, but is now grouped with the old-world flycatchers, family Muscicapidae.
