Each year the American Ornithologists’ Union makes taxonomic revisions that affect check lists with various lumps, splits, reassignments into new genera, or various other classification changes. This year they include the split of Clapper Rail into three species, King Rail into two species, new scientific names for several parakeets, dropping the hyphen in Common Black-Hawk, and a host of other changes.
