Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch (Bering Sea)

ABA 1

(Leucosticte tephrocotis umbrina)

Note the stark contrast between the Gray-crowned Rosy-Finch mainland “interior” race, and this Bering Sea (umbrina) race which is larger, darker, and has a black throat, a dark bill, and a gray face. The two races are so different that they likely should be, and will become, separate species.
