For the third time in four years a Thick-billed Vireo is being seen here in south Florida. The species is native to the Bahamas, but an occasional individual manages to
stray across the Gulf Stream to the Florida coast. This one likes feeding in a favorite gumbo limbo tree at John U. Lloyd SP in Dania Beach and doesn’t seem at all fazed by the roar of the jets overhead taking off from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. A Black-whiskered Vireo is frequenting the same tree.
