The species formerly known as Winter Wren was split in 2010 into three separate species – Winter Wren (Troglodytes hyemalis), Pacific Wren (Troglodytes pacificus, and (old world) Eurasian Wren (Troglodytes troglodytes – the original scientific name before the split). These tiny birds hold the distinction of having the longest-phrased, most complex song of any North American songbird.
