The tropical Golden-crowned Warbler is a rare visitor to south Texas. This particular individual visited from February 2, 2012 through March 4 – just one day after these photos were taken. Like all members of its Basileuterus genus, it is a shy, skulking species that tends to forage in dense thickets, staying mostly within two feet of the ground, and rarely offering an unobstructed view.
